Harsh Realities

Life can be tough in this city. I am often amazed by the number of homeless people there are here. I am also aware of how desensitized we New Yorkers are at times. Everywhere you turn there is someone asking for money, in desperate need of help. It can be overwhelming. I am fascinated by these people. Who are they? Where did they come from? What happened to them? How did they sink so low? My heart goes out to them and I try to help whenever I can. I call this photo "Pick" since that is exactly what she was doing and in many places.
